The Faculty of Psychology at the University of Vienna comprises the Dean's Office, a StudyServiceCenter and four institutes. At the Department of Developmental and Educational Psychology of the Faculty of Psychology, a "Prae-doc" position is available as a temporary replacement until 31.12.2024. The position is assigned to the area "Educational Psychology and Societal Change" (Head Univ.-Prof. Dr. Thomas Götz). We are looking for an employee with a degree in psychology (Magister/Master) or a degree in a related subject and a scientific interest in the field of educational psychology and emotion research in the context of education. Applicants should demonstrate the ability to work in a team as well as interpersonal skills. You will have the opportunity to work in a motivated, committed and internationally oriented team.

Your personal sphere of influence:

  • scientific research and teaching
  • Presentation of research results at national and international conferences.
  • Publication of research results in international scientific journals.
  • Collaboration in the acquisition of new research projects.
  • Participation in faculty and institute administration.

Your future tasks:

You actively participate in research, teaching & administration, which means:

  • Participation in research projects / scientific studies.
  • Participation in publications / scientific articles / lecturing activities.
  • You will work on central topics in the field of educational psychology and emotion research in the context of education.
  • Participation in and independent teaching of courses to the extent stipulated in the collective bargaining agreement.
  • You will supervise students.

This is part of your personality:

  • Completed Master's degree or Diploma, preferably in Psychology
  • Strong interest in research in educational psychology and emotion research in the context of education.
  • Good knowledge in statistical analysis and in conducting psychological scientific studies (experimental studies or questionnaire studies).
  • Ability to present and address research questions in a structured manner.
  • Ability to work in a team.
  • High level of commitment and initiative.
  • Very good command of written and spoken English.

Desirable are:

  • Teaching experience/experience with e-learning.
  • Knowledge of university processes and structures.
  • Initial experience in scientific work (e.g. scientific studies already conducted, collaboration on publications).
  • Experience with statistical programs.
