First Mate / Chief Officer [Malaysia]


 

Summary: The personnel is second in command to the captain and is responsible for the day-to-day running of the deck, as well as taking care of navigation and running watches when on passage.

  • Responsible for maintenance of the yacht as well as overseeing the deck equipment inventory.
  • Lead the Deck department management duties such as purchase ordering, managing personnel and purchasing budgets, managing personnel work/rest hours and watch schedules, managing preventive maintenance schedules, and identifying maintenance projects.
  • Navigation watch-standing responsibilities include voyage plan implementation, position plotting, collision avoidance, traffic management, and emergency response.
  • Cargo operation responsibilities include the safe loading, discharging and stowage of cargo, ballast operations, stability, and management of hazardous cargos, cargo handling equipment maintenance, inspection, and certificates.
  • Oversee the overall performances of deck crews including train and coach them, managing their attendances and discipline.
  • Responsible for all safety regulations and ensure the safety of all crews are upkept and met with requirements by the authority.
  • Complete any task assigned by superior.

Requirements

  • Possess SPM / Professional Certificate / Diploma in related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience on a qualifying vessel
  • Standards of Training, Certification, and Watchkeeping (STCW) certificate.
  • Possess related safety certificate such as Basic Fire Fighting, Basic Water Survival, Basic Social Responsibility, Basic First Aid etc.
  • Qualified officer in charge of navigational watch of less than 500GT Near Coastal Trade Voyage or;
  • Chief Officer / Mate of between 500-300GT Near Coastal Trade Voyage or;
  • Master or Mate of less than 500GT Domestic Trade Voyage
  • Excellent leadership skills
  • Have own transportation.
  • Able to work at Kuala Besut, Terengganu.

Job Types: Full-time, Contract
Contract length: 12 months

Salary: Up to RM4,500.00 per month
